Dangerous Goods

Check Before You Send

Some everyday items are classified as dangerous goods for transport because they may be flammable, pressurised, corrosive, toxic or contain batteries.

Restrictions can vary depending on the item, quantity, packaging and transport method. Items accepted for road transport may not always be accepted for air transport.

Please check before including any of the following items in your parcel.

01 — Perfumes, Aerosols & Sprays

These products may be restricted, particularly for air transport:

  • Perfume and fragrance
  • Aftershave
  • Aerosol deodorants
  • Hairspray
  • Body sprays
  • Spray cosmetics
  • Other pressurised aerosols

Perfumes and aerosols should always be checked before sending by air.

02 — Flammable Liquids & Products

The following are normally prohibited or subject to dangerous-goods restrictions:

  • Nail polish
  • Nail polish remover
  • Paint and varnish
  • Solvents and thinners
  • Certain adhesives and glues
  • Fuel and fuel additives
  • Lighter fluid
  • Other flammable liquids

03 — Batteries & Electronic Devices

Lithium batteries are subject to specific transport restrictions.

This includes:

  • Loose lithium batteries
  • Power banks
  • Rechargeable battery packs
  • Devices containing lithium batteries
  • Certain electronic equipment

Whether an item can be accepted depends on the battery type, capacity, how it is installed or packed, and the selected transport service.

Please check battery-powered items before sending.

04 — Pressurised & Gas Products

Do not send pressurised or gas-containing products unless they have been specifically confirmed as acceptable for the selected service.

This may include:

  • Gas cylinders
  • Camping gas
  • Butane and propane
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Certain aerosol containers
  • Other compressed gases

05 — Chemicals & Hazardous Substances

Dangerous or hazardous chemicals cannot be accepted through standard parcel services.

This includes certain:

  • Corrosive substances
  • Toxic substances
  • Oxidising substances
  • Industrial chemicals
  • Acids and alkalis
  • Pesticides and similar chemical products

06 — Explosives & Highly Dangerous Goods

The following must not be sent:

  • Explosives
  • Fireworks
  • Flares
  • Ammunition
  • Gunpowder
  • Detonators
  • Radioactive materials

07 — Air vs Road Transport

An item that can be transported by road may still be prohibited by air.

This is particularly important for:

  • Perfumes
  • Aerosols
  • Batteries
  • Flammable liquids
  • Pressurised products

If your shipment includes any of these items, please check with us before booking.
